Plat-Eye
The Plat-Eye is a malevolent shapeshifting spirit in Gullah Geechee folklore, believed to be the restless ghost of a person who was wronged in life and died with unfinished business. Unlike the Boo Hag, which enters homes, the Plat-Eye stays outdoors, lurking in swamps, crossroads, graveyards, and other liminal spaces. It takes various forms — an animal with one large glowing eye, a ball of light, or a shadowy figure — and attacks anyone who intrudes on its territory.
