Pombero
Pombero (Guaraní: Pombéro, Karai Pyhare 'Lord of the Night') is a Guaraní forest spirit of Paraguay, NE Argentina (Misiones), and S Brazil. Short, ugly, hairy-footed, moves silently, mimics birds, protects birds from children. Mischievous: releases cattle, steals eggs/honey, frightens horses. Appeased with cigars, rum, honey; then guards property. Linked to unexplained pregnancies.
