Poverty (Téʼéʼį́)

spirit · United States · North America

Téʼéʼį́, Poverty, is one of the four lesser monsters of Navajo (Diné) tradition who remained in the world after the Hero Twins destroyed the great monsters. Alongside Old Age (Są́), Cold (Dǫǫh) and Hunger (Báhí), it could not be killed, and the twins decreed that it must be endured; the four mark the unavoidable hardships of mortal life.
