Pugot
The pugot is the 'decapitated one' of the Ilocos region: a headless being, usually black and tall, that appears at night in dark places, deserted houses, and under duhat, santol, or tamarind trees. It shapeshifts into hogs, dogs, or humans. Among the Aeta it is a goblin-like forest spirit, a guardian of ancestral treasures; the Ifugao call it Tulud Nimputul. Frightening but not usually harmful.
