Qwaxw (Raven)
Qwaxw, the Raven of the Nuxalk people of Bella Coola, British Columbia, is the great transformer who freed the light: in the Nuxalk creation account of the four carpenters, Qwaxw released Nusximta, a crystal ball of sunlight held in a container, to light the world. His name echoes his call, and he stands at the center of Nuxalk origin stories.
