Rākshasa

demon · India · South Asia

Rākshasa (with diacritics) is the Sanskrit term for Rakshasa — the same entity as 'rakshasa' entry. Not a distinct being. The record duplicates the rakshasa entry with diacritical spelling. In Hindu texts (Vishnu Purana, Brahmanda Purana), rakshasas are born from Brahma's foulness/hunger. The duplicate entry adds no new folklore; it is a transliteration variant.
