Rồng (Vietnamese Dragon)

dragon · Vietnam · Southeast Asia

Rồng, the Vietnamese dragon, is a serpentine water dragon with flowing whiskers and a flaming pearl, bringer of rain and symbol of imperial power. The Vietnamese trace descent from the dragon through Lạc Long Quân, calling themselves Con Rồng cháu Tiên, children of the Dragon and the Fairy, and the Lý dynasty's gilded dragons crown the nation's architecture.
