Rainbow Serpent
The Rainbow Serpent is one of the most significant ancestral beings of Aboriginal Australian Dreaming, a vast snake whose travels carved rivers, valleys, and mountains and whose presence brings rain and life-giving water. At once a benevolent creator and a destructive force when angered, it is depicted in rock art across most Aboriginal language groups over some 6,000 years.
