Red-headed Duck
Red-headed Duck is a transformed aspect of the Flat Pipe Creator in Arapaho creation mythology. When all other animals had failed to bring up mud from the primordial waters, the Creator transformed his Flat Pipe into a Red-headed Duck and dove into the waters himself alongside Turtle. Together they succeeded in bringing up the primordial mud that became the Earth. The Red-headed Duck represents the Creator's direct intervention and self-sacrifice in the act of creation. This transformation connects the sacred Flat Pipe directly to the act of earth-diving and world creation
