Ryangombe is the Rwandan culture hero—great warrior and healer—who became leader of the Imandwa (spirits mediating between Imana the supreme deity and humans). The Kubandwa cult centres on spirit possession ceremonies invoking Ryangombe for healing, fertility, and justice. He exemplifies post-mortem apotheosis: a human elevated to spirit leadership.
