Sacred Birds of Summerland
The Sacred Birds of Summerland are the origin of the small birds in Zuni tradition. A Zuni man found a magical bundle of feathers left by the spirits, and when he walked into a field of flowers the bundle burst open, releasing small wings that became jaybirds, sparrows, finches and all the bright little birds that herald the return of summer.
