Saharan Ghoul (Al-Ghul)
Al-Ghul, the desert ghoul, is a shapeshifting, corpse-eating spirit of Saharan and Mauritanian tradition. It haunts graves, ruins and remote wastes, luring travelers to their death by appearing as a familiar face or a beautiful woman; the female ghula may even marry a man before revealing her nature. Belief in it discourages night travel.
