Salmon Ancestor-Spirit of Cheyenne
Not attested in Cheyenne folklore. The Cheyenne are a Plains buffalo-hunting people with no salmon in their territory or recorded stories; their trickster is Veeho, a spider who appears as a man. Salmon traditions belong to Northwest Coast peoples such as the Haida, Tlingit, and Chinook. This entry transplants coastal salmon lore onto a Plains tribe.
