Salmon Of Wisdom
The Salmon of Knowledge (Bradán Feasa) is central to the Fenian Cycle. An ordinary salmon ate nine hazelnuts falling into Connla's Well, gaining all wisdom. Poet Finn Éces fished seven years; his apprentice Fionn mac Cumhaill cooked it, burned his thumb on a drop of fat, sucked it, and acquired omniscience — thereafter accessing it by biting his thumb.
