Saman Deviyo (also known as Sumana Saman) is one of the four guardian deities (Catura Varam Deviyo) of Sri Lanka in Sinhalese Buddhist tradition. He is the divine protector of Adam's Peak (Sri Pada), the sacred mountain that is one of the most important pilgrimage sites in Sri Lanka. According to the Mahavamsa, the Buddha, on his deathbed, entrusted the care of Lanka to the god Sumana, who later appeared to Prince Vijaya's followers disguised as a wandering ascetic. Saman is associated with the Sumana Saman mountain range and is considered the guardian of the Buddha's footprint atop Adam's Pea
