Samo (or Samovila)
Samovila (samodiva) are the ethereal female spirits of Bulgarian folklore, beautiful maidens with wings who dance in mountain meadows, guard springs and forests, and can heal or curse. They are immune to fire and magic, flee from mortal men's advances, and their songs and dances are central to Bulgarian folk ballads.
