Sasquatch (Bigfoot)
Sasquatch is the great hairy wild man of the Pacific Northwest woods, attested across many Indigenous traditions under local names such as Halkomelem sæsq'ec, source of the word 'sasquatch.' Usually a huge, ape-like forest dweller who leaves enormous footprints, he ranges from a dangerous man-eater in some legends to a shy forest guardian in others. Modern Bigfoot sightings keep the legend alive.
