Schrat
The Schrat is a regionally varied German legendary creature: a wood sprite (Waldschrat) that torments woodcutters in Bavaria and Austria, a domestic house spirit akin to a kobold in the Upper Palatinate, or an alp-like nightmare demon (Schratteli) in Switzerland and Alemannic regions. The old term spread into Slavic as skrzat, skřítek, and Estonian kratt.
