Sea-Gull Man
Sea-Gull Man is a supernatural figure in Haida creation mythology who plays a crucial role in the formation of Haida Gwaii. In the creation narrative, after Raven fell from the Sky Land, a grebe appeared and summoned him to the underwater house of Sea-Gull Man. There, Sea-Gull Man gave Raven two rocks: a small speckled one that became Haida Gwaii and a larger black one that became the mainland continent. Sea-Gull Man thus holds the primordial land forms and is the source from which the Haida physical world emerged
