Sea Monster
In Tlingit tradition the sea monster Gunakadeit, the great sea wolf of the outer islands, appears to lone travelers and can be brought ashore only with the right ritual knowledge. Its supernatural skin grants its wearer power to hunt and feed a community. The figure belongs to the wider Northwest Coast belief in powerful undersea beings.
