Sea Serpents
Sea-serpent traditions are documented along the Northwest Coast, where the great horned water serpent appears in the art and ceremony of several peoples. The Sisiutl of the Kwakwaka'wakw, Nuu-chah-nulth and Coast Salish is the classic form: a horned serpent with a head at each end and a central human-like face, whose glance can kill, and whose image protects warriors and house fronts.
