Segen
Segen is the Ethiopian queen of spirits (ayyana), dwelling in sacred peaks of the Simien Mountains, Tigray highlands, and Rift Valley escarpments. She syncretises Oromo fertility goddess Atete with Virgin Mary (Mariam), appearing in rock-hewn church frescoes wearing the golden mitre-crown of Sabaean sovereignty.
