Selu
Selu, the Corn Mother, is the First Woman of Cherokee tradition and wife of Kanati the Great Hunter. By rubbing her body she produced corn and beans from her own flesh, and when her sons discovered her secret she accepted her death, instructing that her body be dragged across the field so that corn would grow where she fell.
