The Yumboes are supernatural fairy-like beings from the folklore of the Wolof and Lebou people of Senegal, often described as the spirits of the dead. Standing only about two feet tall with pearly-white skin and silver hair, these nocturnal beings live beneath the Paps hills near Gorée Island and emerge to dance in the moonlight. Despite their small stature, the Yumboes are known for hosting elaborate feasts on large tables, waited on by invisible servants whose only visible features are their hands and feet.
