Zonbi
The Zonbi is a malevolent spirit or reanimated corpse in Seychellois Creole folklore, linked to dark magic rather than Hollywood-style zombies. A corpse may be animated by sorcery to serve an evil purpose, and Zonbi are associated with abandoned historical sites. Belief in them reflects anxieties about death, the afterlife and the misuse of spiritual power.
