Simurg (Zümrüd)
The Simurgh (in Turkmen tales, Zümrüd) is the giant benevolent bird of Iranian and Turkic tradition, adopted into Turkmen folklore from the Persian Simorgh. It nests on a world-tree, knows all that passes in the heavens and on earth, and in hero tales carries the protagonist across vast lands and heals wounds with its feathers.
