Sjörået
Sjörået (Lake Ruler) is a powerful Swedish freshwater spirit, guardian of lakes and tarns. Beautiful from the front with long dark hair, but with a hollow back or fish tail. Grants fishing luck for offerings; hangs laundry as storm warning. Unlike Näcken, she does not lure to drown — drownings are punishment for disrespect. Term means 'lake-ruler' (sjö = lake, rå = ruler/warden).
