Sluagh
The Sluagh (Sluagh na Marbh, 'host of the dead') are the unforgiven dead in Irish and Scottish Gaelic folklore. They fly in a crescent host like birds, sweeping up souls of the dying—especially those who die unshriven—and carrying them westward over the sea. They cannot cross running water or enter a house with a lighted candle.
