Sobek is the ancient Egyptian crocodile god of the Nile, fertility, military prowess, and pharaonic power. Worshipped primarily in the Faiyum region and at Kom Ombo. He was associated with the pharaoh's strength and authority, as well as the fertility brought by the annual Nile flood. Sobek has a dual nature: as a creator god emerging from the Nile's waters and as a dangerous, predatory force.
