Dhegdheer, meaning 'Long Ear' in Somali, is a fearsome cannibalistic demon from Somali folklore who hunts in forests and preys primarily on lost or wandering children. Once a mortal woman whose selfishness and greed led a curse to transform her into a monster, Dhegdheer possesses supernatural hearing that allows her to detect even the faintest sounds from great distances.
