Sơn Tinh (literally 'Mountain Spirit' or 'Mountain God') is the powerful deity of the mountains in Vietnamese mythology, specifically associated with Mount Tản Viên (Ba Vì) in northern Vietnam. According to legend, during the reign of the 18th Hùng King, the king's beautiful daughter Mỵ Nương was sought in marriage by two suitors: Sơn Tinh (the mountain spirit) and Thủy Tinh (the water spirit).
