Soucouyant
The soucouyant is a blood-sucking hag in Dominican folklore: an old woman by day who sheds her skin at night and flies as a ball of fire to enter homes through keyholes and drain blood. A pan-Caribbean figure, she is kept at bay with salt, garlic or scattered seeds, and belief in her is tied to the practice of dark magic.
