South Star
South Star is a significant celestial deity in Pawnee mythology, ruling the land of the dead. The Pawnee believe that after death, the soul travels along the Milky Way—called the Great Medicine Road or the Path of the Dead—to reach the South Star's dominion in the southern sky. The stars in the Milky Way are the campfires of the dead, and falling stars are souls traveling to their final rest. The dead live in a world much like Earth where they hunt, feast, and dance. The South Star governs this afterlife realm and guides the souls of the deceased to their final home
