Spider (Maya)
Not independently attested as a spider trickster in Maya folklore. No Popol Vuh or ethnographic source records a spider trickster who shapeshifts or commands the wind. The spider in Maya tradition is primarily associated with weaving, as with Ix Chel (Chac Chel), the moon goddess of weaving, textiles, and the loom. The trickster-spider role belongs to figures like Anansi, not Maya myth.
