Stackalee
Stackalee (an alternate spelling of Stagolee/Stagger Lee) is the same legendary 'bad man' figure of African American folklore, drawn from the historical Lee Shelton. In the folk tradition, Stackalee shot Billy Lyons in a St. Louis saloon for touching his Stetson hat, was hanged for the murder, but then arrived in Hell and challenged the Devil for control of the underworld.
