Star Spirit appears in Arapaho folklore as a celestial being who can take human form. In the Star Husband story, two Arapaho women lay outside their tipi and one wished to marry a star. The next day, a handsome young man appeared—the star in human form, come to claim his bride. She went with him to the sky world, but grew homesick. Told she could return if she did not eat certain food, she broke the taboo and found herself back on Earth.
