Stick People
The Stick Indians, also called Cheeplokkeeycum, are malevolent forest spirits of the Salish, Lummi, Yakama and Cayuse peoples of the Pacific Northwest, luring travelers astray with whistles and laughter and capable of paralyzing or harming them. Salish tellers describe them as large, hairy wild men, others as forest dwarves. 'Stick Indians' is an English euphemism for a taboo name.
