Strandvaskare
Strandvaskaren (shore wanderer) is the ghost of a drowned person whose body was never given proper Christian burial. Unlike a regular ghost, the Strandvaskare is bound to the shoreline where the body washed up, wandering the beach at dusk searching for rest. It leaves wet footprints on dry sand that lead nowhere — no body makes them. The Strandvaskare appears to lonely travelers, sometimes begging for help finding a proper grave, other times trying to drag the living into deep water to share its fate.
