Strig (or Štrig)
Strig (strigoi) is a vampire or evil spirit of Croatian and broader Balkan folklore, the restless dead who return to drink blood and trouble their families. The term derives from the Latin striga, and folk belief prescribed protections at burial, including poppies, thorns, and the burning of suspected undead.
