Striga
A semi-demonic being with supernatural powers used to harm her community. Unlike the Western concept of a witch, a striga could be born with her powers or acquire them, and she might transform into animals—a cat, toad, or owl—to move unseen. Strigas could summon storms and hail, destroy crops, curse livestock, cause illness and death, raise spirits, and foretell the future. They anointed themselves with magical ointments to fly through the air, especially on solstice nights and early spring, when their sabbats were held In Slovakia folklore, this figure is known among the Slovakia people.
