Strigoi
Strigoi are the vampiric undead of Romanian and Moldovan folklore — either the living dead returning to their families or those born with traits marking them for vampirism. They leave their graves at night, causing illness and misfortune, and can be neutralized through exorcism, staking, or burial rites. Documented since the 19th century, the belief helped shape the literary vampire.
