Strigoi
Strigoi are the vampiric undead of Romanian folklore, the restless souls of the unbaptized, the cursed, or those born with a caul, who return from the grave to plague the living. Active mainly at night, they bring illness and misfortune and are countered by garlic, holy objects, exorcism, or staking. Nineteenth-century accounts of strigoi influenced Bram Stoker's literary vampire.
