Su Anasi
Su Anasy (the Water Mother) is the water spirit of Tatar and wider Turkic folklore: a beautiful woman who dwells in rivers and lakes, combing her long hair on the bank. Territorial and protective of her waters, she may snatch swimmers or reward the kind; her story, including the theft of her golden comb, features in Tatar tales such as Tuqay's.
