Sun (Jóhonaaʼéí)
Jóhonaaʼéí, the Sun, is a central deity of the Navajo (Diné). A being in human form, he carries the Sun across the sky each day and hangs it on a peg in his home at night. He is the father, with Changing Woman (Asdzą́ą́ Nádleehé), of the hero twins Nayééneizghani (Monster Slayer) and Tóbájíshchíní (Child of the Water), the slayers of the monsters of the old world.
