Suniyam Demon (Sinhalese Sorcery Spirit)

Suniyam is the chief demon of sorcery and black magic in Sinhalese folklore, believed to be one of the most powerful and dangerous of the Yaksha spirits. According to legend, Suniyam was once a Yaksha who served the god Vishnu but was cursed for his arrogance or misdeeds, becoming the master of all dark arts and sorcery. He governs all forms of black magic (kodivina), curses (sapa), and bewitchments (vas kavi). In the hierarchy of Sinhalese demons, Suniyam is considered the chief (pradhana) of all disease-bringing and misfortune-causing demons, commanding the other yakshas of the Daha Ata Sann
