Swaichen
Swaichen (also spelled Swaychen) is a sea-creature of Bahraini folklore that punishes those who steal from the sea, taking from the water without respect. In a 2022 Gulf Weekly feature, Bahraini artist Zainab Almahdi presented it as a towering figure rising from the water that reclaims the thief; the tale is offered as a modern retelling of a traditional maritime warning legend.
