Tamate (Dancing Spirits)
Tamate are mysterious half-divine, half-human dancing spirits from Vanikoro Island in the Solomon Islands. According to Teanu mythology recorded by linguist Alexandre Francois, the Tamate were discovered by a Vanikoro couple who got lost at sea and landed on a mysterious islet called Veluko. The island was inhabited by human-like godly creatures called Tamate who performed beautiful dances. The couple stayed for months, then returned home with five Tamate creatures.
