Tantal
The Tantal is a shapeshifting spirit of Iraqi folklore, tied especially to the marshlands of southern Iraq and the Marsh Arab (Ma'dan) communities. It is said to change shape at night, appearing as a human, animal, or object, and particular Tantals are named for the marsh territories they haunt, with Tantal Hafiz regarded as foremost among them.
