Tantal
The Tantal is a shapeshifting being of the southern Mesopotamian marshlands, documented among the Marsh Arabs; in Gulf usage the figure also appears in Kuwaiti retellings. It shifts between human, animal, and object forms at night, and individual Tantals are named for the territories they haunt, with Tantal Hafiz described as their ruler. The core lore is Iraqi; the Kuwait framing is derivative.
