Taotaomo'na
Taotaomo'na, the 'people of before,' are the ancestral spirits of the ancient Chamorro, told across Guam and the Northern Marianas. Said to be the ghosts of early inhabitants, they inhabit banyan trees, deep jungle, and caves, and can be hostile to those who trespass or disturb ancient sites and bones. Their displeasure is feared, and respect and proper ritual are believed to appease them.
